Parker's 12th Birthday

Parker had his 12th Birthday back in December! His Birthday was on Saturday, so his best friends came to spend the night Friday night. We had so much fun with the boys! They played video games and ate, and ate, and ate, they stayed up all night and still woke up in the morning for a breakfast birthday party!

Later in the day, after the friends went home, we had a family party for Parker at Grandma's and Grandpa's house. Uncle Guy and Auntie Kristy came home, and we had a full turkey dinner and German chocolate cake! Since Parker turned 12, the next day (Sunday) he was ordained a Deacon! What an Awesome experience to have our first son receive the Priesthood! It was so neat having all of John's family there too! Now we get to see Parker pass the Sacrament every Sunday! He is such a great son and I feel so blessed to have him!

She had just started to lift her head up like this. Yes, Aunt Annethel made this beautiful quilt for Katherine! I love it so much, that it goes everywhere with us so I can show it off to everyone!!! You've all been asking when we are blessing Katherine, so I just wanted to let know that I finally set the date for October 11 at 9 am, here in New Mexico, in our ward. It's the fast sunday after General Conference. We would love to have anyone come that wants to. We don't have a lot of room in our cozy house these days, but we have some reasonable hotels in town, or you are welcome to set up a tent in our backyard (I have a huge 3 room tent that I can have my boys set up), and I'm sure we can find space in our house too, for anyone that would rather stay inside with us and help me with the cooking and clean up and stuff (hint, hint). Anyway, let me know!

At the beginning of July, Guy was still on his mission with just a few weeks left. He wrote to John and said to tell me to not have the baby until he got home. He really wanted to be here when the baby was born and to take care of the kids while John and I were in the hospital. Well he got his wish! Just 1 week after Guy got home, Katherine was born. We are so happy to have him home and are so happy for his great example to our kids for going on his mission and serving the Lord.

Pregnancy coming to a close

I just wanted to do a little update on the pregnancy! I had an appointment on Thursday with my midwife. So when she checked me I was at 1 1/2 centimeters dilated, 50% effaced, and the baby's head is down really really low -1. I've been having lots more contractions since that appointment and I wonder every day if this is the day I'll give birth!!!!

Annual Sunrise Breakfast

We went on our annual "Sunrise Breakfast" this week! We actually made it out there early enough to see the sun rise, so the kids were really excited. We ate muffins and just enjoyed the chilly weather and calming sounds of nature and did a little exploring for a few hours before heading home. Hard to believe that next year on the 4th, we'll have a baby almost ready to turn 1 years old! I have 3 1/2 weeks left until the baby is due and I am so excited!

We live in the high desert, and if you were to just pass through our city, you would never know that just a few miles in several directions around us, there are beautiful forests!!!

We've been taking advantage of this blessing a lot lately since I'm pregnant and don't want to travel too far, but still want to enjoy a little vacationing! We've gone hiking, picnicing and camping!

On April 2, We all went to Albuquerque to pick Kristy up from the airport! The kids were so excited (we were all excited)! It took Kristy about 18 hours to fly home!!! What a great blessing to have a missionary come home safely! I am so thankful for her and her faithfulness and great example to my kids!!!

Yesterday afternoon it got really cold and stormy and all of the sudden Jared yells, "It's Snowing" and it kept snowing all afternoon! When Parker and Jeff got home from school, all the boys and Jared went outside in the 20 degree bitter cold air and threw snowballs at each other and cleaned 2 inches of snow and ice off the van! We drank lots of hot cocoa and Jared defrosted his frozen hands with my hair dryer!!!! You never know what kind of weather to expect here!!!!

Basketball Season comes to an End

Every December here, there is a big balloon festival, so after the older boys went to school (on Parker's birthday), I took Allie and Vaughn to see the hot air balloons. It was really cold, but so fun for them! I ended up driving across town to follow them flying, cause it was just too cute to see Allie and Vaughn so excited!

A Semi-Surprise Visit

I was so surprised Thursday morning when Mom called me and said that she and Missy were coming to hand deliver my Birthday present! Later that very same day, they arrived at my house bringing in boxes of, apples, navel oranges and lemons from the valley, and lots of other goodies, like BBQ sauce from Joe's BBQ (things I miss from home)!!!!! I'm so glad I put pork to cook until falling apart and so tender in the crockpot earlier that day, made homemade rolls, and homemade potato salad, not knowing before hand that we would be eating it with Joe's BBQ sauce, with Mom, Missy and Felicity!!!!! We had so much fun together this weekend!

I fell in love with these Vintage Christmas serving bowls, not knowing that just a few months later, Dad and Mom would go back and buy them for me for my birthday! Thanks Dad and Mom! I am so looking forward to using them during the Christmas Season!

Make your own movie

Here is the movie maker program I use: Photo Story 3 for Windows. Just google Photo Story 3 for Windows and you will find where you can download it for free! All the photos I used were either from our own camera or found in google image search online or from some of my favorite websites that I just copied and pasted into a photo file specifically for my movie, then when I was making my movie, I imported my pictures in my photo file to the program. The music I used was from our own collection downloaded from one of our cd's but you can use any downloaded music or even record your own voice narration.
Here is a movie Parker made for his Basketball goals. He came up with all the wording himself and John helped him search for just the right photos that Parker wanted to use! Then John saved Parkers movie to a memory chip in Parkers phone! Yes, even young kids can do it with the help of a parent!!! He loves watching his movie on his phone when he wakes up, when he goes to sleep, and before practice.!
